The Value of Strength and Conditioning for Football Players

Bon Secours In Motion Physical Therapy and Sports Performance, football, concussion management, sports performance specialists, athletic trainers, sports injury, concussion rehabilitation, acl tear, athletic injury, sports medicine, combine preparatory trainingFootball is a high energy and high impact sport that favors athletes who have strength, speed, and agility. The foundation of football training is strength, speed, and agility. In order to help build stronger, better teams some coaches are turning to specialized strength and conditioning coaches for off- and pre-season programs.

As more and more players enter the off season, players – and coaches – should start thinking about continued training. With the high rate of athletic injuries, good strength and conditioning coaches can help players enhance their performance while also minimizing their risk of injury. Not having strength and conditioning coach can result in:

  1. Lack of Supervision
  2. Poor Technique – and Greater Risk of Injury
  3. Poor Effort
  4. Incomplete Routines

Playing football won’t mentally and physically prepare an athlete to play football at collegiate level, but a combine preparatory, sports performance specialist, or football strength and conditioning specialist will teach them how to train to compete.
