Dartfish Pitching and Throwing Assessments

Great pitchers of all levels have similar characteristics in their mechanics. The ability to efficiently transfer the most energy from your lower body to your throwing hand can make all the difference when it comes to velocity, accuracy as well as injury prevention and career longevity. In Motion’s team breaks down the biomechanics of your pitching/throwing motion, using Dartfish video analysis to identify your weaknesses and show you how to improve velocity, accuracy and reduce your risk of injury.

Our pitching analysis is also suitable for position players who may be suffering from nagging shoulder or elbow injuries. Younger or less experienced players can benefit from our throwing analysis to help avoid bad habits or mechanics which may lead to injuries in the future.

pitching-analysis-2

In a pitching/throwing assessment, In Motion’s team of sports performance specialists makes the following analyses:

  1. Biomechanical analysis of the pitching/throwing mechanics at every phase of the throwing cycle (windup, stride, cocking, acceleration, deceleration, and follow-through)
  2. Musculoskeletal strength and flexibility assessment

Treatment options are customized to each player’s needs and may include:

  • Delivery correction drills (with the assistance and input from your coach)
  • Strengthening exercises
  • Stretching exercises
  • Recommendations for pain control
  • Pitching guidelines regarding pitch counts and over-training

We acknowledge the importance of the player’s coach in this process and encourage coaches to attend the analysis or call to discuss different pitching/throwing techniques.

Every client getting a pitching/throwing analysis will receive a CD with their Dartfish video analysis.  Your pitching analysis will always be performed by a licensed Physical Therapist with advanced training in pitching biomechanics. Group discounts are available for groups of 4 or more or team assessments (please contact us for more details). The analysis can be performed in our facility or off-site at local practice fields by special appointment.

Discounts are available for groups of 2-4 athletes if training at the same times. If you are interested in team or group training, please call the In Motion Sports Performance facility closest to you for rates and availability.
