Prevent Diabetes with Good Habits

And millions of them may not even know it.

They also may not know that taking three easy steps can help lower your risk of developing diabetes from pre-diabetes:

  1. Lose Weight. If you’re overweight dropping 5-10% of your body weight can make a huge difference in your body’s ability to regulate blood sugar.
  2. Get Active. Start a fitness program! New to exercise? Try to get a five 30 minute walks a week. There are special programs designed to help children get active and lose weight to prevent health complications like diabetes.
  3. Eat Healthy. Fueling your body with the right foods is a huge part of preventing diabetes. Cut back on fat, cholesterol, and salt.
