In Motion Kicks Off Bon Secours Team Lean Challenge
The Team Lean Challenge has kicked off in Hampton Roads! Team Lean is a free 13-week fitness and nutrition program created in partnership between Bon Secours Employee Wellness and Bon Secours In Motion Physical Therapy and Sports Performance.
Using In Motion’s fitness and nutrition experts as team leaders, participantss – selected through applications made in June – will be assigned to a team to support one another as they compete to lose the highest percentages of body weight. This pilot program incorporates teamwork to keep participants accountable and to create a support system. There are four Bon Secours In Motion Sports Performance facilities participating: In Motion at Chilled Ponds (in Chesapeake), In Motion at Boo Williams Sportsplex (in Hampton), In Motion at Harbour View (in Suffolk) and In Motion at Healthy Way (in Virginia Beach). In total, there are 59 employees and 12 teams competing.
Gerri Norman, secretary for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Specialists, is excited to be a participant and looks forward to learning to eat sensibly and becoming healthier.
“What I find most motivating is the accountability and the transformation,” Norman said. “We are grouped in teams so we are accountable to one another, to give the best in our combined efforts in order to succeed.”
Kayla Creech, patient registrar at Nansemond Suffolk Family Practice, said she’s really thankful for the program and the support through In Motion and Employee Wellness.
“Everyone is so nice and helpful, and they are all there for you every step of the way, which keeps me going,” Creech said.
