Vote for In Motion!

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Text to 21333!

Each year, the people of Hampton Roads cast their votes for their favorites – best doctors, restaurants, salons, shops, and yes, physical therapy – in each of the seven cities.

In 2009, we welcomed thousands of new patients to our outpatient Physical Therapy clinics in Hampton Roads.

We opened new clinics in convenient locations, and introduced new programs, in addition to our classic physical therapy provided by board-certified therapists.

We say that we’re everywhere in Hampton Roads, but see for yourself. Check out this map showing In Motion Physical Therapy locations in York County, Newport News, Hampton, Carrollton, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Norfolk and Virginia Beach.

If you would like to vote for In Motion, but you don’t see your community in the voting options, vote for the nearest city or county where we are listed on the ballot.

Lymphedema Therapy after Breast Cancer Surgery

Each year, In Motion therapists treat many women who have had a breast surgery. Lymphedema therapy is specifically for women who have had a breast cancer diagnosis and breast surgery.

The physical therapist assesses each patient’s strength, range of motion and swelling. In some cases, scar tissue affects mobility.

Typically, the therapist uses massage techniques to help the body’s natural tendency to carry excess fluid away from the swollen area. Mechanical pumps can also be used. The therapist will introduce the patient to stretches and exercises that will help.

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Bon Secours In Motion recently opened at Boo Williams Sportsplex, located at the intersection of Hampton Roads Center Parkway and N. Armistead Ave. in Hampton. This is the newest Physical Therapy and Sports Performance center to fly the In Motion flag. To celebrate, In Motion is offering a free balance screening (by appointment) to Boo Williams visitors.

The center offers orthopaedic rehab, sports rehab, Sportsmetrics, functional movement screens, manual therapy, massage therapy, knee injury prevention, and strength and conditioning programs for athletes.

Call ((757) 224-4601) for an appointment for a free balance screening during the month of January.

A balance screening is a quick, painless assessment of how well your balance functions are operating. In Motion solutions for imbalance can be as simple as strengthening exercises, although balance re-training and vestibular therapy are also available. For people whose balance is severely compromised, a referral to Bon Secours’ Mid-Atlantic Hearing and Balance Institute may be recommended.
