The Not-So Secret to Weight Loss: Diet and Exercise
Just a few days into January, my husband stepped off the scale with a smile. Somehow, he had managed to lose several pounds since Thanksgiving.
I didn’t even know he was trying to lose weight. He certainly didn’t need to in my opinion.
But I had to ask him: how in the world did you accomplish that over the holidays? Our kitchen produced a lot of Christmas cookies and lemon bars. I saw him eating them, too.
I guess he didn’t eat very many of them.
He chalked up his weight loss to two things: cutting back his portions and clocking in some time on a new cardio machine at the gym.
In other words: diet and exercise.
I share this because so many people are trying to lose weight this time of year by changing the way they eat and working out more. It’s easy to get discouraged after a few weeks because change usually comes slowly.
The trick is to stick with it. If you consistently exercise and eat healthy, nutritious meals – in the right portion size – you will lose weight.
And, apparently, it can even happen over the holidays.
