I am doing very well…

When Sharon Adams arose Thanksgiving morning, she was planning to celebrate the holiday with family and feasting as she had always done. The celebration turned to uncertainty, however, when Ms. Adams suffered a stroke and had to be rushed to the emergency department at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center.

She was quickly transported to Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center where Dr. John Baker, neuroendovascular surgeon, performed a thrombectomy to clear a blood clot. The procedure was a success. Ms. Adams’ memory was intact, a very good indicator for stroke patients. She only experienced slight speech defects and minor difficulty with her right leg.

After remaining in intensive care for five days, Ms. Adams was transferred to Bon Secours Maryview Center for Physical Rehabilitation for physical therapy and speech therapy. She is now recovering at home and goes to Bon Secours In Motion several times a week for continuing therapy. Ms. Adams says, “Dr. Baker says I am doing very well. I am very pleased with the results on all accounts.”
